Raindrops on windows and a hot cup of tea Watching the rain falling silently Bhajiyas and Maggi and chatting with friends These are a few of my favourite things! A walk in the woods with the birds and the squirrels Leaves rustling around me and talking in riddles Jungle streams flowing by, birds on the wing These are a few of my favourite things! Afternoon naps after family lunches Board-games and reading and shopping adventures Sundays that never ever have endings These are a few of my favourite things! An oil canvas painting on somebody’s wall A hand-crafted treasure from a mela stall Colours and shapes and the joy that art brings These are a few of my favourite things! A call from an old friend from the forgotten days A long chat to catch up and so much to say Secrets and gossip and old songs to sing These are a few of my favourite things!
Dedicated with love to a very special cohort of the Ochre Sky Memoir Writing Workshops by Natasha Badhwar and Raju Tai. We met in 2022 but refused to part ways when the workshop got over. We stayed connected on Slack and wrote to a whoppingly large number of prompts together, one of which drew these words out of me!
